A temporary closure seems to have turned into a permanent one for Deep Sushi in Deep Ellum.

On New Year’s Day, the Elm Street restaurant posted on social media that it would be closed until Jan. 5 “due to critical repairs.” Now, a Google search shows Deep Sushi as permanently shuttered after 30 years in business, and employees were seen by WFAA emptying out the building.

Deep Sushi opened in 1996 and was Deep Ellum’s first sushi restaurant, according to the WFAA article. It was home of the Dallas Roll with eel, smoked salmon, cream cheese, crab mix, avocado and eel sauce and the Deep Roll with tuna, yellowtail, salmon, red snapper, shrimp and masago.
