Palmer’s Hot Chicken, Catfish and Shrimp in Hillside Village is closing, at least as a traditional restaurant.
“With rising costs, we realized the smartest thing would be to move to a ghost kitchen and still going to take out, DoorDash, Uber, cater and food truck,” reads a Jan. 21 statement on Facebook from owner Palmer Fortune. “We aren’t leaving Dallas! Please come see us before the winter storm, and we will only be 15 minutes away in Garland for to-go and serving our same famous hot chicken, wraps and catfish!”
Palmer’s opened in October 2020 and was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2024. The restaurant announced a breakfast menu last fall that would be derived from its Georgian sister restaurant, but that ended up getting scrapped.
“My wife and I would love to thank everyone in Dallas who supported us these past five years,” reads the Facebook statement. “You and our staff embraced two unknown restaurateurs from GA in COVID, and you became the heart and soul of our restaurant.”
The post went on to praise the staff.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Palmer’s last day would be Sunday, Jan. 25, but that date may be moved up because of the upcoming winter storm. Palmer’s is also expected to be at this year’s State Fair.
