Back in 2021, kids were sledding at Flagpole Hill Park during the winter storm.
There’s snow on the ground, and Dallas ISD schools are closed until Wednesday. How have you been spending your time during this winter storm?
For some of us (this writer included), the answer is probably hunched over a phone or a laptop working or scrolling. But I am informed that people do venture out in this weather. Like during that deadly and traumatizing storm in 2021 with all the power outages, children were still able to have some winter fun by sledding at Flagpole Hill Park.
So maybe you and your family made it outside for sledding and snow ball fights or to make snowpeople and snow angels — you know, all that stuff that we as Texans see in the movies but don’t always get to replicate in our warm state.
And if have any nice and fun snow day photos or videos, feel free to send them to me (editor/writer Madelyn Edwards at medwards@advocatemag.com), and I’ll publish them in a compilation photo story on the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate blog. Maybe that will bring some much-needed joy and inspiration for those of us who are stuck inside.
Stay safe, East Dallas!
