As we enter another day of winter weather, the roads that have started to change into something closer to water than ice might not last.

According to a statement from a city spokesperson, the Dallas Department of Transportation and Public Works crews are continuing to monitor city roads.

Our crews are working around the clock in two 12-hour shifts by sanding and plowing bridges, overpasses, inclines, and most major thoroughfares citywide, including in Oak Cliff,” the spokesperson said in an email. “The Street Repair Division will continue to work and monitor the situation as stated, focusing on priority streets and waiting for conditions to thaw on non-priority routes.”

The city’s sanding operations do not include residential streets, strictly bridges and major thoroughfares. Residential streets can be requested for sanding by the Dallas Police Department or Dallas Fire-Rescue in emergency situations.

According to WFAA, no extra precipitation is expected for Dallas, but re-freezing can occur as the temperatures drop below freezing again leading into Wednesday morning.
