Now that we are well into the spring semester, February is a time to pause and recognize progress, not just individual achievements, but the collective accomplishments that define who we are as a district.
Across Dallas ISD, and especially here in District 3, we are seeing the results of years of intentional work, thoughtful investment, and an unwavering belief in our students. These moments of success are the building blocks of a legacy rooted in opportunity, excellence, and access for every child. And behind these academic gains are the educators who make them possible.
Dallas ISD continues to lead in teacher retention, while reducing vacancy rates, ensuring that students benefit from stable, experienced, and highly effective educators. This consistency matters. When teachers stay and grow within our district, they help build a lasting legacy of learning that extends far beyond a single school year. That legacy is also reflected in the opportunities our students earn beyond high school.
A powerful example comes from right here in District 3. Emmanuella J., a student at Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, is a finalist for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, which is one of the nation’s most competitive awards for high-achieving students. The scholarship provides up to $55,000 per year to help recipients graduate from college with minimal debt. Emmanuella’s achievement is a point of pride for District 3 and a testament to the strength of our schools.
“I am grateful to ASP, my counselors, and advisors for strengthening me to persevere toward greatness,” Emmanuella shared. “I am honored to be a finalist for the scholarship, which would aid in my pursuit of a career in public health.”
Her success reflects a broader trend across Dallas ISD, where seniors continue to earn acceptances to major Texas universities and highly selective institutions nationwide, demonstrating their competitiveness at all levels.
Individual stories of success like Emmanuella’s are backed by districtwide progress. The number of A-rated schools doubled from 30 in the 2023–2024 school year to 60, while B-rated campuses increased from 71 to 103, and the number of F-rated schools declined dramatically from 24 to just two.
These school grades are possible through the work that happens daily in every classroom, visible in test results. When compared to statewide performance, Dallas ISD students demonstrated greater gains in the majority of tested areas. Our momentum is certain, our direction is right, and the legacy of excellence is stronger every day.
Because education is incremental, we focus on providing opportunities from the earliest age thanks to our strong prekindergarten program that prepares students for later years. Growing enrollment across Dallas ISD reflects the trust of families in the district’s ability to provide a strong foundation for learning.
These accomplishments tell a clear story. One of progress, stability, and promise. District 3 plays a vital role in this work, and I am incredibly proud of the students, educators, families, and staff who contribute each day to our shared success.
Thank you for your continued partnership and belief in our schools because without the commitment of staff, students, families, and the community, none of this could be possible.
