A woman was killed in the crossfire of a shootout at a North Lake Highlands condominium complex Tuesday night. Dallas police say multiple shooters were involved, but the woman was apparently an innocent bystander arriving home from work. The gunmen fled the scene before officers arrived, and no arrests have been made.
Police responded around 9 p.m. to the shooting call at the Richland Trace condos near Walnut Street and Audelia Road to find the injured woman lying in the condo complex courtyard. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital, but she could not be saved.
Witnesses said the suspects targeting each other also struck the condo building and at least two vehicles before escaping. It’s unclear why the shootout began.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of her next of kin. Officials urge anyone with information about the suspects to contact Detective F. Serra, Badge #10031, at 214-662-4552 or frank.serra@dallaspolice.gov.
