Dallas Independent School District will host a 2026 Community Bond Meeting September 14, at 6 p.m. at L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary School’s library.
Voters approved the district’s $6.2 billion Bond 2026 package on May 2, making it the largest school bond ever approved in Texas.
According to DISD, the bond will fund the construction of 26 new schools, renovations and modernization projects at every campus, the removal of the district’s remaining 700 portable classrooms, enhanced safety and security measures, upgraded classroom furniture and student technology, new school buses and transportation improvements, and repairs to physical facilities, including swimming pools.
District officials say the bond will have a minimum tax rate impact of 1 cent for the average homeowner. Residents age 65 and older with a homestead exemption will not see an increase in their school district taxes unless significant improvements are made to their property.
During September’s meeting, district officials will discuss future improvement plans for DISD schools. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about upcoming projects, ask questions and provide feedback.
