A grand jury indicted three men of capital murder by terror threat/other felony in the case of the RV fire near the Reinhardt neighborhood last fall that killed a woman and her dog.
The victim was a 68-year-old who was identified as Leslie Morrow by WFAA and Leslie Denise McBride in Dallas County Medical Examiner records. On Oct. 19, firefighters arrived on the scene in the 10000 block of Eastwood Drive and put out the RV fire that also damaged a home next to it. The residents of the house escaped, but Leslie and her dog were found dead.
Police investigated Leslie’s death as homicide because surveillance footage captured video of a person getting out of a vehicle, carrying something and the fire starting up shortly after, according to WFAA.
Less than a month later, Lamont Richardson was arrested in connection with the fire by the U.S. Marshals Service in Stearns County, Minnesota. Richardson, now 31, was one of the three recently indicted, along with 63-year-old Matthew Grindberg and 35-year-old DeAnthony Lewis, according to The DPD Beat.
As of writing this, Richardson is in Dallas County’s jail with a bond set at $1 million in connection with arson with intended damage of a habitat. Lewis was taken to jail on Friday, July 31.
Grindberg was arrested on Thursday, July 30 in his Galveston home, according to the Houston Chronicle. He is accused of setting the fire and hiring Richardson and Lewis to kill Leslie for payment.
