The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands donated two three-in-one car seats and two booster seats to the Dallas Police Department on Thursday, Oct. 15.
According to Matt Sears, director of communications for the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, Dallas police had to transport a child without a car seat this week.
“While fortunately not too often, occasionally DPD has to transport children (including infants) in the line of duty,” Sears said. “They have historically relied on donated car seats to do so, often being used or expired.”
Officer Gabe Ortiz requested car seat donations, and the club responded.
“DPD answers the community’s call for help every day, so when [DPD] called the club asking for help, we were happy to answer that call,” said Dave Wittenberg, director of community service for the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands.
