What if some of the musicians taking the stage at Dallas’ iconic Granada Theater this weekend aren’t seasoned rock stars? Instead, they’ll be young students from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD), showcasing their talents alongside established local bands.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, BGCD will host its first live music fundraiser, Rock the Club 2026, at the Granada Theater from 7 to 11 p.m.

The Socially Distant will headline the event, alongside a performance by Rowdy Dowdy. Students from Lake Highlands High School, Dallas Academy and Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center will also help bring the event to life.

“There’s merchandise that our kids have been working on, so [it will be] a concert kind of feel with the merch stand,” BGCD CEO Brian Slye said. “They’ll be pressing shirts on site, so they’ll be getting some kind of entrepreneurship experience there.”

Performances by the Lake Highlands School of Music Modern Ensemble and BGCD students will give attendees a chance to see the young musicians showcase their skills on a professional stage.

“They’ve been practicing a lot to show up for the gig,” Slye said. “The kids are pumped, and the adults are super nervous.”

Beyond the live music and merchandise stand, attendees can participate in a vinyl art spinning station, where children can choose colors and create spin art on vinyl records. The event will also feature a temporary tattoo auction and pick punching.

The family-friendly concert is free for BGCD club members and their families. Other attendees can purchase tickets online.
