Dallas Winds is set to perform at the Meyerson Symphony Center on the Fourth of July at 1 p.m. in a Star-Spangled Spectacular.
“Under the masterful baton of Grammy-nominated conductor Jerry Junkin, this red-white-and-blue extravaganza honors ‘mom, apple pie and the American way’ with patriotic flair and musical brilliance,” the event description reads.
Junkin currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dallas Winds along with a host of other titles, including Vincent R. and Jane D. DiNino Chair for the Director of Bands at The University of Texas at Austin, Professor of Music and Head Conductor of the Texas Wind Ensemble and Music Director and Conductor of the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia. His variety of experiences within the musical world will allow him to effortlessly guide this event towards success.
The concert will feature instruments like the piccolo, bassoon, flute, harp, piano, string base and more, creating a beautiful arrangement of celebratory music for guests to enjoy.

Dallas Winds is well-known for its patriotic talent, having set a world record for the most piccolos playing – 189 to be exact – in their performance of John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” on July 4, 2016.
Although it is an annual event, fans should expect Saturday’s concert to invoke a sense of wonder comparable to this prior event, as this year’s celebration marks America’s 250th anniversary.
The concert will be livestreamed for any interested families unable to get tickets in time, as few are still available.
