LHUMC will host Teresa Musgrove Judd
Teresa Musgrove Judd is the third generation in her family to shop at Lakewood Shopping Center and live nearby. She’ll visit Lake Highlands United Methodist Church’s Older Adult Ministry (OAM) on August 12 to discuss her new book, Lakewood 1925-1985: A History of the Shopping Center.
Judd grew up in the heart of Lakewood hearing her father’s stories and watching the neighborhood change all around her. Her grandparents lived in a house which was eventually torn down to make way for today’s Lakewood Public Library, and her research began with archives dating from the 1920s, where she found important events, including robberies and murders which occurred in the center. She interviewed residents and employees to find details of rarely heard stories.
Judd’s OAM presentation will begin at 1 p.m. in LHUMC’s Fellowship Hall, where she will discuss people, places and landmarks which helped shape one of Dallas’ best-loved neighborhoods. Admission is free and no registration is required.
