If Thanksgiving’s more your style, you can test, impress or just taste pie at White Rock Market’s 9th Annual Pie Contest this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. $5 if you just want to taste. $10 to enter. There are categories for fruit, nut, chocolate, cream/custard, youth, unique, “most beautiful” and “best overall.” If you want to enter, the final date for entries is Friday, Oct. 27. Rules below (according to the Facebook event page):

Contest open to AMATEUR bakers of all ages

Contestants may enter as many pies and/or categories they choose.

Pies, pie fillings, and pie crust must be homemade.

No commercial fillings, crusts, or store-bought pies.

Please bring a serving utensil.

Contestants must check-in between 10-10:30am, and must be present to serve their pie from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Good Local Markets will provide tables, serving plates, forks and napkins.
