Public school students across Lake Highlands will leave school for the final time in 2025 this Friday.

Richardson ISD releases for winter break on Dec. 19 this year. Staff will get two full weeks off and are set to return for development on Jan. 5, while students return to classrooms Jan. 6.
Schools will release two hours early on Dec. 19. That means elementary schools will release students at 1:10 p.m, middle schools at 1:40 p.m. and high schools at 2:20 p.m.
Bus schedules and routes will be modified to account for the shortened school day. Parents may contact their child’s campus for more information on routes and schedules. All RISD students are required to present ID badges to ride on district buses, a policy first implemented for all grade levels earlier this year.
The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees will next meet on Jan. 15.
