Dallas City Council members selected Jaime Resendez to serve as mayor pro-tem and Maxie Johnson as deputy mayor pro-tem during a closed session last Wednesday.
Johnson is currently serving his first term as a council member for District 4. This past year, he has chaired the Government Efficiency committee and is the only freshman council member appointed chair of a standing committee.
Before his time on council, he previously served as an elected representative on the Dallas ISD school board for six years.
Both Resendez and Johnson began their new positions Monday, June 15, replacing District 2 Council member Jesse Moreno and District 13 Council member Gay Donnell Willis, respectively.
