According to The Dallas Morning News, two men were rescued from flash floodwaters near the 7500 block of Merriman Parkway around 7 a.m. Friday morning.

One of the men, 30-year-old Infant Guerrero, remained in his vehicle while waiting for the water to recede. However, the water level continued to rise and eventually submerged his green Jaguar, the News reported.

“I was waiting because I thought it was a calm rain, and I thought it would go down, which didn’t happen,” Guerrero told the News.

Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter Alissa Keys was among the first responders at the scene. Using a Dallas Fire-Rescue boat, crews transported both men to dry ground, according to the News.

Officials continue to urge motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to turn around when encountering high water.
