The Dallas Park and Recreation Department reopened E. Lawther Road and the nearby playground area near Stone Tables on Thursday, June 18.
All three eaglets have reached the stage of sustained flight and are being regularly monitored throughout the area. Although the road and playground have reopened, the original protection area surrounding the eagles’ nest tree at Stone Tables will remain in place to protect the nesting site.
The Dallas Park and Recreation Department asks visitors, bird-watchers and photographers to continue giving the birds space. Over the next several weeks, the young eagles will enter an important learning phase as they begin accompanying the adult eagles and developing the skills needed to hunt and survive independently. The eagles may perch throughout the area, including in trees, on light poles and on other elevated structures.
In addition to giving the eagles space, the department encourages visitors to avoid creating large gatherings along the road or trail.
