The Moody Fund for the Arts (MFA) has announced 70 small Dallas arts organizations as grant recipients for the ninth year of the awards.

Created a decade ago with a $10 million gift from the Moody Foundation, the AT&T Performing Arts Center accepts, reviews, and administers the grants annually to help local organizations with budgets under $1 million. The Center also staffs the endowment board charged with overseeing the investments.

Since 2018, nearly 500 grants for a total of $3.3 million have been awarded to 114 Dallas-based organizations that are also supported by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

Seven organizations were first-time recipients of the grant this year, including Pasos for Oak Cliff. Some of the other Oak Cliff-based organizations that received the grant this year include Arts Mission Oak Cliff, Oak Cliff Film Festival, Top Ten Records and The Writer’s Garret.

The fund also increased the maximum grant per organization up to $15,000 from $12,000 in the last four grant cycles, distributing a record $475,000 for this year’s grant cycle.

“We set out to create a unique endowment that would support the growing, diverse and vibrant small arts community in Dallas,” said Francie Moody-Dahlberg, Moody Foundation Chairman, in a press release. “We wanted to help these organizations realize their creative vision with projects and programs across our city. We are beyond pleased by the results, and excited at what’s ahead.”
