A new sculpture is planned for Harry Stone Park off Ferguson Road in Casa View, and neighbors are being asked to give their input.
The art is expected to be called “Rising Together,” and five words that are meant to be community themes — echoes, share, together, roots and motion — will be represented with ribbons in the sculpture. Neighbors can complete this survey and share their thoughts plus other words for the artist to consider.
“The project is currently in the contracting phase, with a timeline of a little over a year, so there is still plenty of time for community input,” reads a post on Friends of Harry Stone Park’s Facebook page.
Some of the suggestions detailed in that post, which was a recap of a meeting, called for inclusion of Spanish words to represent Casa View’s Hispanic community, use of pictures or symbols, and building a path to better access the sculpture as well as adding lighting.
More attention has been put on Harry Stone Park since neighbors signed a petition to upgrade the playground, and the friends group was created in conjunction with that movement.
