Cinemark founder Lee Roy Mitchell sold his mansion on June 22. The house was initially listed for $22 million in Sept. 2025, the most expensive listing in Texas that month, but it took a $4 million price cut when it was relisted in January. It finally sold for $15 million, according to Jonathan Rosen from The Rosen Group, who represented the buyers, Kevin and Amanda Moore. Public documents showed that they purchased the estate through a trust.
Ann Shaw from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty represented the sellers. She explained that many potential buyers appreciated the architecture but weren’t ready to take on the renovations. According to Shaw, the buyers plan to update the house.

The expansive home at 9769 Audubon Place is 14,341 square feet and sits on 3.38 private acres. It features 6 bedrooms, 8 full bathrooms and 4 half bathrooms, according to the listing. The house also boasts unique perks such as a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, a 2,500 square-foot pavilion with a catering kitchen, and a private 20-seat theater — perfect for the movie theater chain’s founder.
Mitchell and his wife, Tandy, have lived at 9769 Audubon Place for almost 30 years, since it was built in 1995 by Randy Hughes. The house was designed by Robbie Fusch, known for creating Dallas megamansions such as this one, nicknamed the Texas White House. The Mitchells’ home has hosted many important people over the past three decades, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who reportedly spent a night there, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Mitchells had hoped the house would be their forever home, but found the size daunting as they got older. Tandy Mitchell told the Dallas Morning News, “I still love the house. I don’t think you can find a better property in the city of Dallas.”
