On the morning of July 21, a man blockaded himself inside a home in Oak Cliff before setting it on fire and killing himself, as reported by WFAA.

According to a WFAA article, the Dallas Police Department says the deceased man had threatened a woman and child with a weapon on Delaware Avenue at around 6 a.m. He began the house fire as the police were responding to the call surrounding the incident. Dallas SWAT confirmed he died of suicide on site.

“Dallas Fire-Rescue says they were called to the home around 7:30 Tuesday morning to protect nearby structures,” WFAA journalist Alex Wilson wrote. “Fire crews confirm the house has sustained heavy fire damage. However, they have been unable to enter the residence due to safety concerns around the barricaded person.”

Officials are still trying to uncover the relationship the deceased man had with the woman and child.

The investigation is ongoing, with more updates to come.
