The second City of Dallas furlough day is on Friday, Sept. 4.
The closures are part of the required city furlough days announced in June to address the current fiscal year’s financial shortfall. The first mandatory furlough day took place in July, with the third and final scheduled furlough day set for Monday, Sept. 28.
The locations that will be closed all day Friday include City Hall, Dallas Park and Recreation offices and facilities, Fair Park, Code Compliance offices, the Dallas Water Utilities Lobby at City Hall, and the Office of Arts and Culture.
Planning and Development and community centers will have modified operating hours. Planning and Development will be open at the Oak Cliff Municipal Center and district offices will remain open during normal operating hours. Administrative offices located at 1FN and 5BN in City Hall will be closed.
As for community centers, the Foremost Family Health Clinic and ChildCareGroup on the MLK campus will remain open. The West Dallas Multipurpose Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and Vital Statistics within the Dallas Central Library will be closed.
The Dallas County Older Adult Services Nutrition Program will transition to home meal delivery for closed sites.
Services and facilities that will remain open during the second furlough day include Dallas Police, Dallas Fire-Rescue, EMS, Love Field/Executive Airport, 311 Customer Help Line, Sanitation Services, Dallas Animal Services, Bath House Cultural Center, Oak Cliff Cultural Center, South Dallas Cultural Center, Latino Cultural Center, Municipal Court and Detention Services, and WIC Clinics.
