The October print edition of the Oak Cliff Advocate is my favorite. Coming straight out of college, working on it as my first print with bylines last year, the education issue felt like the perfect way to start.
And since making my home here in Oak Cliff, a literary theme for this year’s education edition feels perfect, too.
There’s a reason we have an annual Oak Cliff Book Crawl. That The Writer’s Garret has found a home at Bishop Arts Theatre Center. That there are a plethora of book clubs and little free libraries all around our neighborhood.
Oak Cliff is a hub for all things literature, and that’s what I wanted to explore for this October issue.
In this edition, you’ll hear from local bookstore owners on why Oak Cliff is the place to build community, discover the potential for the old Adamson campus and see what led to the magazines of Fine Print.
You’ll also get a chance to embrace spooky season learning about the upcoming Bishop Arts true crime tour from Sinister Strolls and see the horror-inspired coffee shop from a Winnetka Heights neighbor.
