The Audelia Road Library Friends (ARLF) is hosting its annual Fall Book Sale Fundraiser at Audelia Road Branch Library on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The fundraiser supports the library’s programs, activities, materials and initiatives. Organized by the ARLF, a nonprofit organization founded in 1997, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Every year we have two book sales, and these are our largest fundraisers,” ARLF President Tiffany Sunday said. “We are needing individuals to come out and support.”
The free event will feature a variety of items for sale, including paperback books for $1, hardback books for $2, games and puzzles for $2, and CDs and DVDs for $1 per two items.
Sunday said a resident also donated 250 National Geographic magazines for the sale.
Before the fundraiser, the ARLF will host a membership appreciation hour from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., during which ARLF members can shop. From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be door prizes from Taco Joint, Cedar & Vine, Goldies, The Store in Lake Highlands, Pop Popcorn and Strouderosa BBQ.
One of the fundraiser’s signature offerings is its Book Bag Stuffing event. Attendees can purchase a clear bag for $20 as members or $25 as nonmembers and fill it with as many books, CDs and DVDs as they can fit. Games and puzzles are not included.
“There is a lot [the library] does to help the community in Lake Highlands,” Sunday said. “You hear stories about how important the library is and how multiple generations go to the library. We want to help support and help fund the books.”
