Tyler Street Church will host an organ concert in honor of America 250 on Sunday, July 5 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a reception to follow.
The concert will feature organist Shelton Weeks performing works from composers such as Aaron Copland, Gustav Holst, J.S. Bach and John Philip Sousa to blend together selections with patriotic, sacred and classical ties, according to a press release.
Weeks will be playing on the historic Tyler Street Memorial Organ, which combines both the 1954/1966 Moller and 1940 Casavant organs boasting four manuals, 132 ranks and 7,150 pipes.
The instrument was the largest pipe organ in Texas upon completion and remains among the 100 largest in the world, according to a press release.
Admission to the concert is free and is made possible through the support of Boss Conservatory of Music and Elsa’s Food Factory.
Tyler Street Church is located at 927 W. 10th St.
