A group of teenagers may face charges after allegedly carjacking a man at gunpoint in Old East Dallas and then crashing the vehicle on Tuesday night.
The carjacking of a white Honda sedan took place at 10:37 p.m. July 14 in the 4500 block of Live Oak Street, according to a report by FOX 4. About 20 minutes later, the stolen car was flagged by a Flock license plate recognition camera at a Pleasant Grove apartment complex near Bruton Road.
Police responded and found the vehicle traveling around South Buckner Boulevard. According to FOX 4, the officers tried to stop the car, but the drivers sped up, and a police chase ensued. Around 11:02 p.m., the sedan crashed into a steel traffic signal pole at Bruton Road and Second Avenue. The five teens inside were taken to the hospital, some with serious injuries, and all of them are expected to survive.
Firearms were also found in the vehicle. An investigation is ongoing, and charges are currently pending.
