Iconic Vegan Cafe, located inside Ann’s Health Food Center & Market on South Zang Boulevard, is currently seeking donations to help keep the restaurant open.
Founded in 2022, Iconic Vegan Cafe serves plant-based meals and vegan ice cream. The cafe was created to make healthy eating accessible to everyone.
Owner Otis Ross also uses his business as a means to mentor young adults by teaching them the operations of a restaurant, leadership skills, and discipline when it comes to working in the industry.
According to a GoFundMe started by Ross on July 15, the business has “several state sales tax filings (that) were unintentionally overlooked.” The restaurateur is seeking to raise approximately $12,876.29 to help with those expenses.
Additionally, the GoFundMe notes that the rising cost of food, produce, utilities and operating expenses have placed an additional financial strain on the business.
“We’re OK. That’s the No. 1 thing,” Ross said. “We’ll be fine, but we still have incurred some debt that needs to be addressed, so any and all donations will be helpful.”
