Yardstick Dog Hotel will celebrate the grand opening of its third Dallas-area location at Preston Valley Shopping Center on Thursday, Oct. 29.

With existing Texas locations in the Design District and Lakewood, the new hotel at 12835 Preston Road, Suite 411, will serve more customers in North Dallas, according to CEO Dave Atkins.

“We found a great space [at Preston Valley] and it’ll better serve the Preston Hollow neighborhood and Addison and kind of all these neighborhoods that our Lakewood location was designed to be just a little bit further of a drive for,” Atkins said.

Founded in Nashville in 2022, Yardstick Dog Hotel expanded to Dallas in early 2025. The Preston Hollow area Location is the company’s seventh overall, joining four locations in the greater Nashville area and two in Dallas. The company is also opening its first location in Raleigh in early 2027.

The new location will offer the same services as its other hotels, including overnight boarding, daycare and bathing. Equipped with 57 suites, each of which can accommodate up to three dogs, the hotel can hold approximately 70 dogs.

The Preston Hollow Advocate received a sneak peak of the space ahead its grand opening.

At the entrance, a large check-in area welcomes visitors dropping off their dogs. A room service menu lists additional amenities available for a fee, including puppuccinos, gelato and barkuterie boards.

The main area features three playrooms with rubber flooring, a large outdoor turf yard and seven individual rooms housing the suites.

The hotel is located next to Dallas Animal Urgent Care, marking the first time Yardstick Dog Hotel has opened a location adjacent to a veterinary clinic, according to David York, the company’s head of development.

“We have employees on site 24/7, 365,” Atkins said. “So, our belief is that fewer dogs lead to better care, sort of more personalized care, and a lot much safer and calmer environment.”

The new location has 13 employees, including daytime and overnight hosts. As part of the boarding process, Yardstick Dog Hotel communicates with dog parents through text messages and photos.

“That’s probably the most commented part of our offering,” York said. “If you were to read our Google Reviews, people love the photos and text updates they get all day from our hosts.”

Overnight boarding costs $88 per night, while daycare costs $47 per day. A daycare trial costs $25. Prospective customers are also welcome to tour the facility, Atkins said.

Yardstick Dog Hotel already has plans for a fourth Dallas-area location, expected to open in 2027 farther north along Preston Road, Atkins said. The company will continue evaluating expansion opportunities across Dallas and Fort Worth in the coming years.
