Layllen Sawyerr, founder of L.A.Y.D. Spaces, is opening her sixth event venue in Oak Cliff on Friday, August 14.
L.A.Y.D. Spaces is a group of seasoned specialists that are passionate about curating experiences that are unforgettable and inspiring. What started with a content creation space in Los Angeles has grown to be a Dallas-based business in 2020.
Sawyerr said she was drawn to the Sunset Avenue location because of the proximity to Bishop Arts.
“I love the location, and I feel like Bishop Arts has so much to offer in terms of the creativity and all the arts,” she said. “I feel like it just gives you a really great mix of everything. It’s like a beautiful melting pot of culture and artistic activities.”
The 4,300 square foot venue is managed by Onyx Legacy Group. The two organizations will sponsor events together or separately, such as fundraisers and conferences. The venue will also be available for events such as proposals and weddings complete with bride and groom suites.
“I think for me, I really just want to be able to be impactful in the community. And so, although it is an event space, and we are for profi t… it’s important that I create and find opportunities for us to mentor youths and do activities that are educational, financial literacy, things around real estate,” Sawyerr said. “All of those activities that I feel people naturally wouldn’t have access to, that we can make available or attainable to someone who naturally wouldn’t be in a position to rather go to a seminar or a conference or have that experience.”
L.A.Y.D. Spaces will be located at 224 Sunset Ave.
