The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees gave the district approval to include additional days starting with the 2026-2027 school year.
The Early Start Additional Days School Year adds extra learning days for 13 elementary schools and for sixth grade students in seven middle schools prior to the start of the traditional school year set for Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Those days are included to help students in their academic growth, build confidence, and ensure that they begin the school year by helping them regain any skills that may have been forgotten during the break and provide them with additional support needed.
As for the participating campuses, students at 19 of those schools started early on Tuesday, July 28. As for Lida Hooe Elementary School, those ADSY students will have additional instruction on select Saturdays, with the first scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.
