The Frontiers of Flight Museum is hosting its STEM Career Days from Sept. 30 through Dec. 10.

Named one of Dallas ISD’s Learning Voyage Destinations, the museum expects to welcome approximately 9,000 eighth-graders from 58 Dallas ISD schools to explore STEM careers through presentations and hands-on learning activities.

According to Rosalie Wade, director of education at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, this year’s STEM Challenge is “Eggstronauts,” where students will learn about NASA’s Artemis missions and their landing systems by designing, building and testing their own egg landers.

The goal is for students to have their eggs land as slowly and safely as possible, similar to how spacecraft are designed to safely land astronauts.

“This year we were lucky enough to form a partnership with Dallas ISD to join their Learning Voyage field trips,” Wade said. “[Dallas ISD] does a specific field trip for each grade level to locations around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”

This year’s STEM Career Days program will feature 25 speakers representing Texas Woman’s University, Lockheed Martin, the City of Dallas Department of Aviation, Boeing and other organizations.

The speakers will give students an opportunity to learn about different STEM careers and the educational and professional paths that can lead to them.
