Edie Brickell’s new collaborative project, World Famous Pets, has an album set to release next month.

Brickell, who was born at Methodist Hospital and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, is known for her work like the 1990 release of “Oak Cliff Bra” and the five albums of Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. World Famous Pets is Brickell’s latest project where she’s joined by Matt Chamberlain, Kaveh Rastegar and Mason Stoops.

The debut, self-titled and self-produced album of the new group will be released Sept. 25 with two singles already released, “Maybe Somehow” and “I Guess It’s You.” World Famous Pets’ approach to music is described as fluid, “rooted in sonic exploration and an improvisational spirit.”

“Matt is one of those rare people in life whose connection to you never fades,” Brickell said in a press release. “Years go by, and it’s as if no time has passed, and you pick up where you left off. As musicians, I’ve witnessed the evolution of his playing in awe of his talent and skill. His experiment to bring Kaveh and Mason to play in the studio with us for six days turned out to be a free-flowing fountain of song after song. They are all monster players who improvise in song form, changing tones and feel as we go along.”

Each band member contributed to the songwriting experience, creating a collaboration filled with creativity and a product that embodies the ethos of experimentation and instinct.

“We listen to each other and roll together like a river of music, not knowing what’s around the bend but tuned into the same current,” Brickell said in the release. “We all felt it and just went with it, so fun, so astonishing and productive.”

World Famous Pets will tour throughout September and October, with the group’s Dallas show scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6 at The Kessler Theater.
