HeartGift’s Sunday Funday is back after last year’s inaugural concert and fundraiser brought rip-roarin’ fun to One Nostalgia Tavern. Max and Heather Stalling will return to delight the crowd with their mix of Texas tunes and Americana music.
Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defects in the world, and HeartGift provides surgeries for children who lack access to specialized medicine. Their surgeries save lives daily.
“I found out about this nonprofit shortly after my open-heart surgery to repair a defect that should have killed me,” said organizer Karen Brown. “HeartGift provides these surgeries free of cost — travel and housing expenses included — for these children and parents. It’s a great cause.”
The Stallings live in East Dallas, where their collaboration has been a long time in the making. Heather is an award-winning violinist who picked up her instrument at the age of three. She traveled across Texas as a child, competing in fiddle contests and performing as a member of the Texas Gold Minors. She later toured with The Old 97s, Johnny Lee and many others. Max has six studio albums and three live projects and is a staple in the Texas Red Dirt scene. He has a star on the South Texas Music Walk of Fame.
