The Lake Highlands-based Texas Women’s Foundation (TXWF) awarded $900,000 to support women and families across North Texas during a special celebration reception on Sept. 25.
As part of its annual grant cycle, two special groups of supporters selected nonprofits to highlight through their annual giving and engagement.
Texas Women’s Foundation’s Board Alumnae awarded $40,000 to Shared Housing Center for housing and wraparound services through the Virginia B. Whitehill Endowed Fund.
The TXWF Nineteen Network awarded another $40,000 to The Family Place for its Children’s Educational Services program.
Among the 25 grant recipients was Lake Highlands’ Mosaic Family Services, a nonprofit that supports survivors of human rights abuses, refugees, human trafficking survivors and domestic violence survivors.
“This grant will help Mosaic Family Services provide survivors with the safety, support and resources they need to heal, rebuild their lives and move toward independence,” Mirjana Omeragic, executive director of Mosaic Family Services, said in a recent press release.
Since 1985, TXWF has invested $115 million in Texas women.
“These incredible nonprofit organizations are removing barriers for Texas women and their families and creating opportunities in the areas of health care, child care, education, workforce development and more,” Karen Hughes White, TXWF president and CEO, said.
