After nearly 37 years, El Padrino will close in the coming months.
Owner Juan Contreras Sr. opened El Padrino in 1989 as his first restaurant. The menu includes tacos, burritos, tortas and breakfast options.
The owner’s son, Juan Contreras, shared in a post on Instagram on Oct. 11 that the business will be closing the Oak Cliff location.
“With Bishop Arts and all the development interest around it, something was bound to happen eventually,” Contreras said in the post. “After a change in property management, we were given until the end of the year.”
El Padrino previously had a second Oak Cliff spot located at 330 W. Davis St. in Bishop Arts. That location closed in November 2012 due to a new concept moving in and later relocated to Pleasant Grove in 2013.
The Pleasant Grove location will remain open, according to the post.
El Padrino is located at 408 W. Jefferson Blvd.
