Lochwood Branch Library is encouraging community members to support local students during its annual school supply drive

The campaign, which began in 2022, has collected and distributed essential school supplies to over 400 local students. According to a survey by Intuit Credit Karma, 39% of surveyed parents with school-age children said they cannot afford school supplies.

Donated supplies will be provided to students on Aug. 1 during the library’s Back-to-School Community Fair. Businesses and community organizations are invited to participate in the event to connect with the community and share information about their services.

“Our goal is to help combat these statistics by getting all the supplies they need for the upcoming school year into the hands of as many of our community’s students and families as possible, and your support can help us reach that goal,” said LeeAnn Sutton, children’s librarian at Lochwood Branch Library, in the email.

Donations can be dropped off at the Lochwood Branch Library, located at 11221 Lochwood Blvd., through July 29.

Community members who would like to support the drive but prefer not to shop for supplies themselves can contact LeeAnn Sutton by email at leeann.sutton@dallas.gov or by phone at 214-670-8403.
