Inwood Theatre’s operating company, Landmark Theatres, made a temporary deal with the building’s landlord to stay up and running in Inwood Village.

“As part of this extension, Landmark is investing in the guest experience at Inwood, with improvements beginning this summer,” a representative from Inwood Village said. “Updates will include leather reclining seats in the main theater, replacing the existing LoveSac couches, refinishing the original entryway terrazzo, replacing the entryway poster cases with new LED Poster Cases, all of which are in progress, with completion expected by the end of July [and] additional enhancements planned over the next 24 months.”

As one of the longest-standing theaters in the Dallas area, Inwood Theatre’s contributions to local culture span nearly 80 years, offering a timeless experience for its guests.

“Known for its Art Deco design and eclectic film programming, the venue continues to host its monthly midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, widely believed to be the longest-running midnight movie showing, complete with shadow cast performances from Los Bastardos,” the representative said.

By allowing the theater to continue serving the public, Inwood Village enables its visitors to engage with films and performances of all eras and genres, emphasizing the importance of cinema’s complex history.

“At a time when historic theater preservation comes with significant costs, this continued investment in Inwood reflects both its cultural significance and loyal following,” the representative said.
