First responders search for the man who stabbed a woman Sunday morning.
Dallas police have arrested the man wanted for stabbing a woman to death Sunday morning. After an extensive search surrounding her apartment near Lake Highlands High School and the White Rock Trail, her assailant was located in Mexico, where he was taken into custody and is now awaiting extradition.
Law enforcement officials say they responded to a disturbance emergency call in the 8300 block of Skillman shortly after 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Their preliminary investigation determined that Jesus Leal Huerta entered the residence, assaulted two minors and stabbed 35-year-old Daisy Moctezuma. She died at the scene.
The victim’s sister told Fox 4’s Shaun Rabb that Moctezuma had been dating Huerta, but she was seeking to extract herself from the relationship due to physical and mental abuse.
“She tried so many times to get away from him,” said Leslie Hernandez, whose own daughter was one of the injured minors. Hernandez said her daughter had been staying with Moctezuma for the weekend.
“We’re never going to be happy again,” she told Rabb. “We never going to be that family.”
When Huerta is returned to Dallas County, he will be charged with murder and injury to a child. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues, police said.
