Jack Clark, former head basketball coach at Lake Highlands High School, has died. He was 82.
During his tenure as a Wildcat, Clark worked at Lake Highlands Junior High as a history teacher, head coach and principal. At LHHS, he served as a history teacher, football and basketball coach and senior class principal, and he worked alongside wife Donna, the school’s guidance counselor. He was elected “Coach of the Year” by his peers six times and led his teams to six district championships. In 1984, the Wildcats didn’t lose a single game on a district opponent’s court.
When he retired at LHHS, Exchange Club of Lake Highlands volunteers gave him a standing ovation and presented the avid fisherman with a snazzy reel in appreciation for his work with students and dedication to the community.
Many former students went on to become coaches and occasionally reached out for coaching advice, he told Lake Highlands Advocate in 1996. He finished his career as principal at Flower Mound High School, where they dedicated the FMHS auditorium “The Jack and Donna Clark Auditorium.”
Born in St. Louis, Jackson W. “Jack” Clark, Jr. went on to attend John Brown University on a basketball scholarship. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969, working as an electrician on F-4B Phantom jets in the Vietnam War.
Clark put his “fix-it” skills to work crafting custom contraptions and solving problems for his beloved family and friends, according to his obituary. His Highland Village neighbors fondly referred to him as the Mayor of Parkhurst Circle.

A celebration of Clark’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m. at the Jack and Donna Clark Auditorium at Flower Mound High School, 3411 Peter’s Colony Road, Flower Mound. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Clark’s memory to a scholarship fund created in his honor with the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation.
